What does the world want from us? Are we supposed to react as the emotionally complex beings that we are, or are we expected to act just like everyone else?
Consider Hamlet.
Is he crazy? Is love the major force behind all of his actions? Isn't there always a kind of love behind revenge?
Hero or villan?

Writing Prompt: If you could choose one character to survive the blood bath at the end of the play, who would you choose and why?
Hamlet, everyone else is dead. Hamlet would be king, he could rebuild his life with another woman and maybe start a family. Its going to hurt because now his mother and father is dead, and also the woman he loved Ophelia. A new start for him.
I would want ophelia to survive because she really hasnt done anything to anyone to make them want to kill her and she could set up the castle how she wants it to be and new rules too
I would pick Ophelia because she was innocent throughout the whole story even before she died. She didn't even start anything with others. She kept it calm and chill. She follows all the rules too and that's why I say she deserve to live.
I Considered all the possible characters that could have survive the blood bath, but i still could not choose one. They all had a devious and skull mind. Revenge, love, power and sneakiness was all in each characters. None of which I would have kept alive myself. The sneaking around and spying on others is what got them to where they are at now. Each person had a pass and future that will explain there steps. As Hamlet says " Every man has to die". They all had a mission for there self, either following what the King said like for example Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Being sneaky and fake got them no where but dead and for Ophelia beinging in love and hurt and not knowing what to do got her to drown in a river where she didnt have a choice which way to choose. Considering the fact that Hamlet had to take revenge for his fathers death, he new sooner or later he will have to die, but he would take the risk for his promise to his dad. Laertes as well could have been a great person to survive but his mind was not on survival but as to taken another persons life. There is not even a reason why Claudius would be a live he deserve all the evil he got, considering all he want truly wanted was power and for his secrets to be kept. The only person that could have survived was Horatio and for the view of it he did. He was himself all through out the play. He didn't switch up on no one nor did he whisper sweet nothing into someones ear. He kept true to his self and his people. Loyal to none but his self and that I consider is a true King.
If anyone was to survive, I would want it to be Gertrude. When The Ghost told Hamlet to "leave Gertrude to heaven and the pangs of her own conscience", I expected the karma she received to be more than just poison. So I think Gertrude should live to experience better karma.
If I could choose one person to survive it would be Gertrude. Reason is due to her not being a character that shouldn't have died in the first place. I believe if the others had just died then she'll come to her realization that everything that happened was somewhat she and Claudius's fault.
I would choose Laertes, as far as i can see he is the only one who did not deserve to die, (other than those who did). He lost his father to a man pursuing revenge, and then his sister killed herself, talk about bad luck. I can see how similar Laertes and Hamlet are, but i choose Laertes over Hamlet because Hamlet felt little to no remorse after killing Polonius.
They all clearly knew what they were doing, what actions they were making throughout the play. Sooner or later something like this was bound to happen. They all brought it upon themselves...I choose nobody
I think the queen should have lived, she was meant to live even the ghost said so. Her death was of her own fault by accident no one was intending to kill her she had already been through so much.
Probably when my cousin stole my phone charger and I couldn't use my phone for two weeks. When I finally found it in her room and she got a new I Phone. I cut her charger with scissors. to be honest I didn't really regret it and because I knew she could by a new one

ReplyDeleteI would choose Gertrude because she was innocent she didn't plan to kill anyone she was just an innocent bystander . Also no one want her to die

ReplyDeleteI think the queen shouldn't have died, so she could have seen the error of her ways after she lost everything and everyone around her.
ReplyDeleteMeh...she deserved it

ReplyDeleteNo one.
ReplyDeleteThey are responsible for their own choices and frankly they all got what they deserved.

ReplyDeleteI would chose hamlet because from the beginning all hamlet wanted to do was expose claudius for the death of his father. Hamlet didn't deserve to die.
