#6 - Who Are You?

Writing Prompt #6: I know everyone is just writing Hamlet off as crazy, but I imagine there are some people out there who think the same of you. In what ways are you like Hamlet? How are you different? Do you think you have more in common or less in common with our sweet, troubled main character? Be honest.

  1. I feel that I am similar to Hamlet in few ways. On one hand I would also seek revenge for my fathers death. On the other hand however, i would also be seeking my rightful place as king, and I would kill Claudius outright, instead of doing it in such a roundabout method.

  2. I feel I am like Hamlet for the fact we both are loyal to our father's. I know that if my father was killed I would try to avenge him. However I would actually act instead of Hamlet who takes a whole novel debating if he should or should not act.

  3. Hamlet and I are alike and different in a few ways. We are alike because Hamlet is loyal to his father. I'm actually loyal to my mother because she was always here for me. We are different because Hamlet doesn't act right away. I'm an action person because I don't like wasting time. (Tshawn)

  4. I'm similar to Hamlet in a way because if my uncle killed my dad, I'd falcon punch him in the throat! Jk, but I would plot a revenge plan to kill my uncle. Hamlet and I are also different because he takes forever to kill him, for me, I would kill him right there, right now. I think I'm pretty similar to Hamlet :).

  5. I am similar to Hamlet because I value my father and I see him as a great man. I also have self doubt and hesitate a lot when deciding to take action. In a way I am a coward just like Hamlet, I over think the situation and analyze the outcomes. How I am different is that I am not suicidal and I wouldn't hurt my lover like how Hamlet did with Ophelia.

  7. I feel like I am not like hamlet. If I started seeing ghosts I would be freaked out and I would probably call Ghostbusters. I would not be listening to no ghost and just ignore the whole situation.

  8. We are similar because I'm slow at taking action for revenge. We're different because I don't like to overreact on alot things.

  9. We are similar because we are depressed and lonely. We are different because I don't seek revenge. I think we are more different than similar

  10. Hamlet and I are both alike and different in ways. We are alike because Hamlet is loyal to his dad and i am loyal to my mom because she has always been there for me. We are different because Hamlet doesn't acts more passive. I like to let people right away what is bothering me and that i cut right to the chase (speak upon a problem). -Elyce Nielsen

  13. The people that think I am crazy I would just ignore them. I am who I am and no one can change me. Just like Hamlet he is who he is and no one can change him. They can talk but there is no action to changing him. Hamlet puts himself in a difficult place when it comes to getting revenge for the death of his father. I most likely always get into situations that I can't get out of but I never back out of it. I make sure I handle that problem right then and there and not dread it on for days or even months. I understand why Hamlet did not kill his uncle when he was praying. I believe what he said was something I would think about as well. If killing someone praying will take them to heaven than why do it? The purpose of this was to repay them for what they did. Hamlet and I have many difference and similarities, but only at the end will we really see if Hamlet had the strength and the power to get rid of his uncle, because you can see loyalty matters to Hamlet and he is loyal to his father as I am to my brother. The promise he made to his ghost father he is keeping it even though he has not found a right time to kill his uncle yet but just wait and see, this will be war. -Ellen Padmore

  14. I am similar to Hamlet because Hamlet is vengeful. If my uncle killed my dad ill do anything to get him back. I'm also like hamlet because I am very loyal to my mom. Hamlet looks out for his mom just like me.

  15. I don't really like this question I feel I am in the middle. I personally don't think he is crazy he is just so consumed by his thought that he can't function correctly, I have a similar problem I think about something so much that my world then evolve around it. Another thing Hamlet and I have in common is the care for our mothers and how we don't want to see them being deceived. Lastly I am like Hamlet in the sense that if I want to kill someone in vengeance I want to make sure they are going to hell. But Hamlet is a coward if I had the opportunity I would take it. Also I wouldn't act crazy to plan my vengeance

  16. I like to "get even" when someone makes me angry, so thats how I would relate to hamlet because he wants to get even with his uncle since he is so angry throughout the play. But however sometimes I just hold all the anger until the right time comes. Im not so sure about the differences because I can relate to Hamlet.

  17. Me & Hamlet aren't alike at all. I don't have the loyalty he has with his father, with mine. However, we could be alike because id be trying to kill my uncle if he married my mother. That's like the weirdest thing you could do. Hamlet is a lost individual and I feel as if he's really goin to find himself and what decisions he needs to make or just die.

  18. I think I'm like hamlet because I think of everything before I do it. Hamlet didn't kill Claudius because at the time he was praying. Myself I think farther into the future than in the present. We are different because I don't really show emotion. I'm always happy and smiling. When hamlet is having an emotional breakdown nobody pays attention to him because it's normal. With me on the other hand if I'm quiet or not happy everyone notices and wonders what's the matter with me.

  19. Hamlet and I are alike by him being loyal to his father. I'm loyal to my family and my mother. If she or someone else in my family were to be murdered, yes I would definitely try to figure out who killed them. I wouldn't kill them for doing what they did. Also, Hamlet is always beading around the bush other than just speaking his mind. I would confront Claudius instead of creating a play to prove a point.

  20. Hamlet and I are similar because we both value our mother and we are not afraid to tell her when she is wrong in a situation. The difference between us is how we approach our emotions. I like to get straight to the point and take action for things I don't agree with. In contrast to Hamlet, who procrastinates and acts cowardly.

  21. Hamlet and I are alike because we have a deep love for our mothers, although she may get on our nerves we still love them. My and Hamlet are different because I have not killed anyone like how he has done before. Hamlet also done not get right to the point as he should he often sugar coats things a lot.

  22. Hamlet and me are a like because even though we all go through family problems but in the end we love and have great feelings for our family. We also when something happens takes a while to get over it. Me and Hamlet are different because Hamlet is out looking for revenge, while me I either just talk it out, or just let it go.

  23. I think I have less in common with Hamlet. I feel like he comes off as a very violent person. Even though he loves his mother a lot, he will do anything to make sure Claudius is dead for what he did to his father. In this sense, I am not like Hamlet because I'm really not a violent person. I am like Hamlet in a way because we both care a lot about family. He wants to get revenge for his father, and he loves his mother. He would do anything for both of them, and so would I.

  24. I feel where hamlet is coming from. But I think he went about things wrong in the beginning. I feel he drove himself crazy and took it out on himself rather than doing what had to be done.

  25. Hamlet and I are less alike then we are alike. We have a big difference in the way we hold in our composure, but we are alike because we have good intentions even if our actions are negative.

  27. im like hamlet because i always think about the consequence before i take action, and hamlet is acting that way in this story. where different because i wouldnt kill somebody, i would just shoot them in the knee-cap instead . but i think we have some things in common... kinda -ASIA DIVINE

  28. I'm like hamlet because if someone were to murder my dad, I would try my best to (not kill) but Torture that person. Along with that, I would feel he exact same way if my mom married one of my uncles. Like for real, that does not go well. Why would you marry your husband own brother or what so ever?

  29. Hamlet and i are not much alike all we have in common is we are crazy for certain things but we are different because i wouldn't kill someone if a ghost came up to me and told me to avenge its death even if it says its my father
