What does the world want from us? Are we supposed to react as the emotionally complex beings that we are, or are we expected to act just like everyone else?
Consider Hamlet.
Is he crazy? Is love the major force behind all of his actions? Isn't there always a kind of love behind revenge?

Live By the Code
Prompt #4: Do you think Hamlet is acting on the "code of honor" between a son and his father, or is he just crazy? Explain your answer.
I feel like Hamlet is just plain crazy. The conspiracy against his father was the icing on the cake. He was suicidal and depressed before the conspiracy. He was a train wreck to begin with .
In that time I do believe Hamlet was following a code of honor. In a sense and eye for an eye. Yes he was somewhat crazy because of his depression and that fed into him and his revenge against the person who killed his father.
I feel that Hamlet is a crazy guy. He is only trying to defend his fathers and name and find out what really happened. Hamlet is also very depressed so with that being said he has a lot of emotions he is feeling right now.
Hamlet is just a crazy guy in general and "seeing" his father made him even more crazy for revenge on his uncle he is acting out of anger and not what is right
Hamlet is becoming very depressed. I think he's lost his mind. However, if someone killed your father you would seek revenge on them for their actions so he is sorta following the code
I think Hamlet is normal for getting revenge for his father. Claudius caused Hamlet a lot of problems and stress. Hamlet should avenge his father and become king.
Elyce says that Hamlet is going crazy and his anger is taking over his emotional control. He thinks revenge will fix everything but in the long run will most likely make everything worse. Bumfuzzled as to what he should do.
In my opinion, Hamlet is completely deranged at this point. He's thinking way too much which is causing him to become disconsolate which made him want to seek vengeance even more.
In my opinion, I believe part of Hamlet wants to act in the "code of honor" for his father, but most of him wants his own vengeance. I think the extra factor that his uncle married his mother also adds to his anger so he wants his own revenge than for his father.
This is Sam, mine wasn't working so I used Amber's. I think Hamlet is just going crazy. I think he has to put up an act in the "code of honor"just for his dad. But in reality he isn't doing this for his dad he is doing this for his own revenge. Samantha Mikulak
I think that Hamlet is just following the code between his him and his father. He is not crazy because he is not the only one who has seen the ghost. Yet there is also a part of me that says Hamlet is doing this simply for himself, he wants revenge not for his fathers sake, but because he is angered by the fact that his mother and uncle married within a month, not taking very long to mourn the death of the king. -Andrew (A.J.) Croft
I think he's just taking on the "father and son code" like any son would when his uncle murders his father. At the same time I think he's really going too far with this "revenge" plan. Instead of doing this for his father, this is more of his revenge now. So overall, Hamlet's crazy.
I think Hamlet is acting on the "cold of honor" between a son and father especially because of his father's wrongful death. Hamlet is trying to remain loyal to his father, and until Hamlet's revenge is successful he will become more depressed and suicidal.
I think he's just crazy. He's using his father's death as an excuse for all the things that he's doing to hide all the rage and depression in him when he lost power to his uncle. Also mad that his uncle is sleeping with his mom.Hamlet is now falling down into despair ever since he followed his emotions.
I think Hamlet is actually defending his father. I think.he might be just very emotionally because of his grief pf his father's death but I think its just temporary. Not necessarily crazy just wants justice for his father.
All Hamlet wants, is to make sense of this situation. His thoughts are taking over and causing him to go crazy. He wants to get revenge so badly on the person who did this to his father, he is willing to go to extreme lengths. I think it is a code of honor to him at least. Between a father and a son.
I Think hamlet is doing what he feels he has to do about the death of his father and everything that has been going on .So he is not cray hes just doing what he think is right .
I think Hamlet is doing what he is doing through "code of honor" because he hasn't decided to act about his uncle and mother until the ghost of his father appeared. He is acting on his father's will.
I feel like hamlet is following the code of honor but he is also becoming to obsessed with the whole situation. He is starting to act crazy. That's what's going on with hamlet
I feel like hamlet is just a roller coaster full of emotions. Hes made hes sad. I know for sure he is confused because who wouldnt be. I think he should forget about codes and his craziness and just kill his uncle. Why not right ?
Based on his thoughts and what he says Hamlet seems like he's going crazy; but he is just angry for not taking action about his uncle. I think he is acting on a code of honor never the less. -Niariah Williams
I don't think Hamlet is crazy at all . I think he was still mourning about his father. Everyone mourns about a loss of a family or friend that they were close to. Others in the play may see it as he's going crazy because the loss didn't have much of an affect on them. It didn't really make a difference to them. Regarding living by the code , I don't think that's words of a crazy man. I believe it's words grime a wise man who will stand by his word. No matter what especially for his father since he's no longer present.
I think Hamlet is a thug.I think either way someone was going to figure out that the king killed hamlets dad.and he already wanted claudius dead in the first place for taking his thrown.when his dad told him who killed him it just gave him more of a reason to kill him. He's not crazy he is playing his role.its a mixture of code of honor and revenge
Hamlet is crazy, but then again he's just going through a lot at the moment. By yes, sometimes he can be crazy, but who wouldn't go crazy if your uncle killed your father or if your mother married you uncle????
I think Hamlet is just crazy because of the things he's going through. He probably just want to kill King Claudius because he married his mother. He didn't approve of that and might be using the revenge as an excused just so he can kill him. Yeah.
Unless you're Tyler W., posting is closed for prompt #4. Sheesh, a lot of you have just written Hamlet off as crazy but I think it's more than that. Where's the compassion, yo?
I think Hamlet it following the code of honor because that was his Father, the man who raised him and not only that but he's also his king and he was loyal to him and swore to protect him but now he find out that he was murdered by his uncle so he is just doing it to restore his fathers honor.
